HIDIRELLEZ
Every year 6th May morning early (before sunrise) you should wake up and make your wish...write it on a paper or make the picture of it... leave your wish under the rose bush and wait....after sunrise, take your wish paper and throw it into a river, stream or sea...Your wish will come true in 1 year!

Actually it has a very long legendary/interesting story...

Hıdırellez is mostly celebrated in Turkish culture. Ruz-i Hızır means The day of Hızır. According to a belief, Prophet Hızır and Prophet İlyas meet on the earth today.
According to old calender period between 6th May-8th November is Hızır Days (summer) and from 8th November to 6th May is Kasım Days (winter). This means, 6th May is the beginning of summer.

There are so many different stories about Hızır and İlyas.
Hızır has drunk water of life (ab-ı hayat) and became immortal. He comes to the earth especially in spring days and deliver plenty of goods, health.

There are many believes about Hızır:
He helps to the people who has got honest heart.
He brings plenty of good things.
He brings health.
He brings good luck.
He brings miracles.
If you are really in a very difficult situation Hızır comes and helps you.

6th May is celebrated by the orthodox people as Aya Yorgi Day and St. Georges Day by the catholic people.

People believe that if you leave your wish under the rose bush or bind it on the rose bush with a piece of red ribbon, Hızır comes and touch on it. You can also make a small model of your wish. E.g. a small auto or a small house.
